The non-farm payrolls report was weaker than expected, and futures market traders' bets are clearly skewed towards more rate cuts in 2025. Traders still strongly expect the Fed to cut rates by 25 basis points in September. Currently, traders see a 71% chance of three rate cuts by the end of the year, up from 46% a day earlier. The likelihood that the Fed will cut rates only once or less by the end of the year has dropped to 1.5% from 7.9% a day earlier.
