The Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued a joint statement on September 5, 2025, announcing that they will strengthen their cooperation in regulatory coordination and will jointly host a roundtable on September 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. SEC Chairperson Paul S. Atkins and Acting CFTC Chairperson Caroline D. Pham said the two agencies will work to simplify rules on product definitions, reporting standards, capital frameworks, and more, and to harmonize innovation exemptions. The meeting, which will be held at SEC headquarters in Washington, D.C., will be open to the public and will provide a live webcast, with the aim of reducing market barriers, improving efficiency, and driving innovation to ensure that the United States remains a global leader in capital markets.
