Max Hillebrand, CEO of zkSNACKs, said that the closure of the CoinJoin service was necessary given the lack of regulatory clarity in the United States regarding the cryptocurrency space and the use of privacy-enhancing tools. Hillebrand also confirmed that Wasabi Wallet, a Bitcoin wallet developed by zkSNACKs that includes the CoinJoin service, will continue to operate as a regular BTC wallet. Users can generate private keys to receive and send bitcoins.
Despite shutting down the CoinJoin service, Hillebrand said Wasabi's client-side filtering architecture, Tor integration, and custom coin selection still provide users with important privacy.
