Challenger Gray, a US employment consultancy, said: Companies have announced 892,362 layoffs so far this year, the highest year-to-date level since 2020 (when 1,963,458 layoffs were announced). This is a 66% increase from the 536,421 announced in the first eight months of last year and 17% higher than the 761,358 total layoffs in 2024. (Jin Ten)
