According to Cointelegraph, Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Zhelezniak said on social media that the Ukrainian parliament passed the first reading of a bill on the legalization and taxation of cryptocurrencies on Wednesday. The draft bill stipulates an 18% income tax and a 5% military tax on gains from digital assets. The bill stipulates a preferential tax rate of 5% for the first year when digital assets are exchanged for fiat currency.
"It is not meaningful to discuss in detail now, and there will be many changes before the second reading," Zhelezniak said in a statement. "It is not clear whether the regulator is the National Bank of Ukraine or the National Securities and Stock Market Commission."
