Bitcoin's daily hashrate hit a new all-time high of 1.279 ZH/s on Tuesday, according to mining data platform CoinWarz, even though the price has remained largely unchanged over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, Bitcoin's seven-day moving average hashrate also hit a new high, surpassing 1 ZH/s for the first time in the period.
Although miners are still struggling with rising energy costs and lower block rewards, the hashrate is still growing. After halving last year, miners' rewards fell from 6.250 bitcoins to 3.125 bitcoins.
Miners typically rely on rising bitcoin prices to cover costs, but continued volatility in the asset has prompted some large mining companies to expand into high-performance computing.
