On September 2nd, according to the Wall Street Journal, the Trump family increased its paper wealth by as much as $5 billion on Monday as its flagship cryptocurrency project launched trading of a new digital currency.
The deal debut is likely to be the biggest financial success for Mr. Trump's family since his inauguration. The Trump family, including Mr. Trump himself, owns less than a quarter of the WLFI tokens. Mr. Trump, whose three sons are co-founders of World Liberty, has been dubbed honorary co-founder.
World Liberty said that the founders and team members' tokens are still locked up, meaning they are still unable to sell. However, the launch of the transaction has given them a true market valuation for the tokens they hold, which were previously based on private transactions.
Today, WLFI may well be the Trump family's most valuable asset, surpassing the real estate portfolio they have run for decades. While the Trump family has pursued real estate deals globally since taking office, it is clear that the burgeoning cryptocurrency business has had the most immediate early impact.
