According to on-chain analyst PeckShield, there were about 16 major cryptocurrency security incidents in August 2025, with a total loss of $163 million, an increase of 15% from $142 million in July.
Among them, the five largest security incidents were:
A Bitcoin holder loses $91.40 million;
Turkish cryptocurrency exchange BTCTurk suffered a loss of 54 million dollars.
The ODIN • FUN project lost US $7 million;
BetterBank.io loss 5 million dollars;
CrediX Finance lost $4.50 million.
It is worth noting that BTCTurk has suffered two major security incidents in the past year, and the cumulative losses have exceeded $100 million after the loss of $54 million in June 2024.
