According to the Department of Justice, a Florida man was sentenced to 47 years in prison last September for planning a series of violent burglaries targeting cryptocurrency holders, and last week received an additional sentence for assaulting a witness.
Remy St Felix, 25, was sentenced to an additional seven years in prison for assaulting a witness who testified against him for involvement in a mass home invasion, a series of cases in which cryptocurrency holders were beaten and tied in nylon ties, according to an official press release.
In October, at a North Carolina detention center, Mr. St. Felix approached a witness in shackles and handcuffs and beat him in the face, head and body, the authorities said. The attack came after Mr. St. Felix was convicted of nine counts, including kidnapping and committing a violent crime with a firearm. He allegedly called the witness a "rat" during the attack.
