Philippine Senator Bam Aquino wants to connect his country's national budget to a blockchain platform, which he says will allow every peso expenditure to be tracked by the public.
"No one would rush to connect their transactions to a blockchain - where every step is recorded and transparent to all citizens. But we want to start this experiment," Mr. Aquino said in a statement at the Manila tech summit on Wednesday.
"If it works, I think we will be the first country to have a national budget on the chain." Mr. Aquino added that he was unsure of the level of support he would receive.
