The US Senate banking committee is expected to hold a hearing next week on the US Federal Reserve's (interim) nominee for governor, according to two people familiar with the matter. The hearing, which was in the works long before Mr. Trump's move against Mr. Cook and has not yet been formally announced, will test the extent of Republican support for Mr. Trump's plans to radically reshape the Fed, while providing a fresh opportunity for Democrats to pressure Republican lawmakers to take a stand on the Fed's independence.
