The CFTC will soon be run by Caroline Pham alone

Kristin Johnson, the Democratic commissioner of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), will step down on September 3, after which the CFTC's five commissioners will be reduced to only acting chairperson Caroline Pham. Trump's nominee Brian Quintenz has yet to be confirmed by the Senate, and his appointment date has not been determined. If Quintenz officially succeeds Pham as chairperson, Pham plans to step down and return to the private sector. The CFTC is the US derivatives market regulator and one of the main regulators of cryptocurrencies. A single member of the committee could open up regulatory policy to legal challenges and increase regulatory uncertainty in the industry.
