In a whistleblower complaint, Chuck Borges, senior data officer at the Social Security Administration (SSA), noted that members of the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE) had uploaded a large Social Security database to Cloud as a Service, putting the personal information of more than 300 million Americans at risk. The whistleblower report, which was submitted to the Office of Special Counsel and members of Congress, said the uploaded data included records of all Social Security numbers issued by the federal government, as well as full names, dates of birth and other personal information. Borges did not point out in the complaint that the database had been hacked. The SSA statement said that "no damage to the environment has been found".
