Meta forms California political action committee to promote AI-friendly policies

Meta Platforms (META. O) said Tuesday that it will form a California-focused political action committee (PAC) to support candidates who advocate for deregulation of technology, especially artificial intelligence, in state-level races. The group is a super PAC that will support candidates for state office from any party that advocates for artificial intelligence innovation rather than strict regulation. Meta plans to invest tens of millions of dollars through the PAC, putting it on track to become one of the top political gifters in California ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election. California will elect its next governor in November 2026. Brian Rice, Meta's vice president of public policy, will co-lead the PAC with Greg Maurer, another vice president of public policy, according to a company spokesperson.
