According to Walter Bloomberg, Morgan Stanley now expects the Federal Reserve to start cutting interest rates in September after Federal Reserve Chairperson Jerome Powell hinted at heightened concerns about labor market risks at the Jackson Hole meeting. The bank forecasts that the Fed will cut rates by 25 basis points next month, again in December, and then another 25 basis points every quarter, bringing the final rate to 2.75-3% by the end of 2026. This is earlier than previous forecasts, but slightly smaller. A September rate cut is not inevitable, though - strong jobs data or tariff-driven inflation could delay a rate cut.
