Leading AI companies and tech giants, including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman, announced the formation of a "Leading the Future" political action committee (PAC), which will invest $100 million to support state and federal candidates aligned with a pro-AI agenda over the next two years.
The fund will focus on primary and general elections in AI hotspot states such as California, New York, Illinois and Ohio this year, and expand to the federal level ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The move is aimed at ensuring America's leadership in AI and countering policies that could stifle innovation. The fund's operations draw on the Fairshake PAC of the crypto industry and work with political strategist Josh Vlasto to drive action.
