On-chain data monitoring platform Arkham posted on social media that the UAE's bitcoin holdings worth $700 million have now been flagged on the Arkham platform.
Arkham said that the UAE is the fourth largest government entity holding Bitcoin on the platform, with BTC holdings totaling nearly $740 million. Unlike the United States and the United Kingdom, the UAE's Bitcoin does not come from police asset seizures, but is generated through mining operations in partnership with Citadel. As of now, it has mined about 9,300 BTC and still holds at least about 6,300.
Citadel is 85 per cent owned by 2pointzero, which is 100 per cent owned by IHC. About 61 per cent of IHC is owned by Emirates Royal Group, which is controlled by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a member of Abu Dhabi's royal family.
