Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, issued an update on the progress of his case in France. He said the criminal investigation against him was "difficult" to find any evidence of wrongdoing. In a Telegram post on Sunday, Durov called his arrest by French authorities in August 2024 "unprecedented," adding that holding a tech executive responsible for the actions of an independent user was "legally and logically absurd."
Mr. Durov added: "A year later, the'criminal investigation 'against me is still struggling to find anything wrong between me and Telegram. Our content moderation practices meet industry standards and Telegram has always responded to every legally binding request from France."
"A year after this bizarre arrest, I still have to return to France every 14 days, with no appeal date in sight," he continued, warning that the French government had done irreparable damage to France's image as a free country.
The founder of Telegram has said his case in France is going nowhere and has attacked the French government.
