On August 23rd, Fitch Ratings recently confirmed the US rating as "AA +" with a stable outlook. Fitch said that the US sovereign rating benefits from its large economy, high per capita income, dynamic business environment, and the exceptional financing flexibility afforded by the US dollar as the world's main reserve currency. However, high fiscal deficits, heavy interest burdens, and high and rising levels of government debt limit this rating. The US has yet to take meaningful action to address its large fiscal deficit, rising debt burden, and looming spending growth related to an aging population. Fitch forecasts that the government deficit will fall from 7.7% of GDP in 2024 to 6.9% in 2025, then rise to 7.8% of GDP in 2026 and 7.9% of GDP in 2027, driven by a significant increase in revenue.
