Christoph Rieger, head of interest rates and credit research at Deutsche Bank Research, said in a note that the Fed chairperson had previously used the Jackson Hole symposium to communicate important changes in policy guidance, but that was unlikely to happen this year. "While we do not expect a significant shift in Powell's stance from previous guidance that the Fed is awaiting more data, leaving the door open for a 25 basis point cut in September would be reasonable," Rieger said.
