Former SEC Assistant Director of Enforcement Jennifer Lee said Donald Trump may not change the SEC's stance on cryptocurrencies if he is re-elected.
Lee told CNBC that the SEC "aggressively pursued cryptocurrency cases" during Trump's first presidential term and brought "sunshine and regulation" to the fledgling industry. If Trump is re-elected for a second presidential term, the SEC will continue to "define its space and dabble in the crypto space." The SEC is more consistent about whether a particular cryptocurrency falls under the agency's jurisdiction, but its jurisdiction over the industry remains an open question.
