Federal Reserve Chairperson Jerome Powell's speech at the annual Jackson Hole symposium will be the next catalyst for the dollar's movement, according to Commonwealth Bank of Australia economist Capuso. Don't expect a clear signal from Powell in either direction, though. Capuso said he may keep his options open and wait for more data. But if Powell signals a willingness to cut rates, expect the market to more fully price in a September cut and the dollar to fall modestly. He said the probability of a September rate cut is currently around 70 percent, which sets a high bar for Powell to break away from market expectations. (Kim X)
