Anthropic in talks to raise up to $10 billion in new funding

According to people familiar with the matter, Anthropic is close to reaching an agreement for a new round of financing of up to $10 billion, which is higher than expected and one of the largest mega-financing for artificial intelligence startups to date. Talks are still ongoing and the final amount is subject to change, the people said. It was previously reported that Anthropic is in deep discussions to raise $5 billion in this round of financing, which values it at $170 billion. The amount has increased significantly due to strong investor demand, the people said. It is reported that investment firm Iconiq Capital will lead the round of financing. Other expected participants include TPG Inc., Lightspeed Ventures, Spark Capital and Menlo Ventures, the people said. Anthropic also held discussions with the Qatar Investment Authority and Singapore's sovereign wealth fund, the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), about joining this round of negotiations.
