Since taking office in January, US President Donald Trump has continued to make large-scale bond purchases, including investments in local governments, gas parks and debt issued by large US corporations, according to 33 pages of documents filed with the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) on August 12. The documents, which were made public on Tuesday, detail 690 transactions that have taken place since Trump took office this year.
According to CNBC's calculations, the total value of these bond purchases is at least $100 million, assuming that each disclosed transaction is calculated at the lower end of the declared value range. Under US law, presidents, vice presidents and certain other officials are required to regularly file "reportable transactions" with the OGE, but are not required to disclose the exact amount of the transaction.
