Reports say Trump is considering firing Federal Reserve Governor Tim Cook

On August 20th, according to the Wall Street Journal, a senior White House official and another person familiar with the matter said that Trump has informed aides that he is considering trying to fire Cook, the Federal Reserve governor appointed by Biden, after one of his housing officials accused Cook of mortgage fraud. Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulter claimed on social media on Wednesday morning that Cook submitted misinformation in two mortgage applications. Trump then responded by saying, "Cook must resign immediately!" While the above-mentioned White House officials and people familiar with the matter said that Trump is considering going further behind the scenes. If Cook does not resign, Trump is discussing removing him for good reason. A spokesperson for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors declined to comment immediately.
