The trend of the dollar may become a catalyst for gold to break out of the range

Gold futures rallied, reversing losses from the previous session. David Morrison of Trade Nation noted that gold has generally remained range-bound for the past 10 weeks or so. Traders closely monitor the movement of the dollar, which could make dollar-denominated gold cheaper for international buyers and increase demand for gold. Morrison said factors that could trigger dollar volatility include Federal Reserve meeting notes released on Wednesday and Powell's speech in Jackson Hole on Friday.
