Informal Systems today announced that its high-performance consensus engine, Malachite, has been acquired by global fintech firm Circle Internet Group (CRCL) to support the launch of Arc, a Layer-1 blockchain network designed specifically for stablecoin finance.
Circle's integration of Malachite will enhance the performance, reliability, and security of stablecoin payments, furthering the vision of a low-cost, borderless, trusted financial infrastructure. The Malachite codebase will continue to be open-source under the Apache 2.0 license, ensuring continued innovation in the industry.
