According to news on the 17th, Upbit operator Dunamu announced that after the tax investigation of the Seoul local tax department, the company was levied 22.635 billion won, including corporate tax. The Seoul local tax department International Transactions Investigation Bureau launched a tax investigation into Dunamu in February this year.
The announcement shows that the National Tax Agency has notified the collection on June 30, and Dunamu has also paid the tax. The 22.635 billion won recovery fee accounts for about 23% of Dunamu's second-quarter net profit (about 97.60 billion won).
In addition, Dunamu is also engaged in a lawsuit with financial regulators. In February, the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIU) notified Dunamu of a penalty of "three-month suspension of some business operations," and issued an "accountability warning" to the company's CEO, Li Shuoyu, and fired nine employees, including the compliance officer.
