Japan's Financial Services Agency is set to approve the country's first yen-denominated stablecoin, JPYC, this month, according to Nikkei. The FSA will register fintech firm JPYC Inc. as a money transfer business company, and is expected to start selling within weeks of registration. The digital currency will be backed by liquid assets such as government bonds to keep its value stable at 1JPYC = 1 yen.
