On the Cheeky Pint podcast broadcast Wednesday, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said he built a community of elites from across the company to ensure he wasn't just interacting with his direct reports.
"When I bring someone into the community, I usually say something like this," he said. "If there's a disaster or some kind of apocalyptic scenario, we have to rebuild Robinhood with 150 people, and you'll be on this list."
Mr. Tenev, who co-founded Robinhood in 2013, says the community of founders started as a compensation-focused way of allocating budgets to top performers. But today it has become a "real community" among stock trading companies.
"I would review the latest strategy or vision with them, bring these people together and listen to their feedback," he said. "We would have events, events in every city, to bring them together for dinner."
