Department of Justice Seizes Over 2.80 million Dollars in Ransomware Case

The Department of Justice announced on Thursday that it had issued seizure orders in the courts of the Eastern District of Virginia, the Central District of California and the Northern District of Texas, seizing about $2.80 million in cryptocurrency, $70,000 in cash and a luxury car in the wallet involved. Prosecutors accused Ianis Aleksandrovich Antropenko of using ransomware to attack individuals, businesses and institutions around the world, stealing data and demanding ransoms, some of which were laundered through ChipMixer, a cryptocurrency mixing service that was banned in 2023.
