Two years ago, Estonian banker Rain Låhmus told Estonian Public Radio that he had lost access to a large amount of Ethereum he had bought during a pre-sale in 2014. "It's no secret that I have a wallet with 250,000 Ethereum; anyone can calculate its value for themselves," Låhmus said at the time.
As Ethereum briefly topped $4,700 on Wednesday and surged back to its 2021 highs, the lost position in Låhmus is currently worth around $1.20 billion. That's almost triple its value when Ethereum was trading at around $1,600 in October 2023.
According to data from Arkham Intelligence, apart from a few small Ethereum transfers, the wallet has yet to be used.
