On August 14, the Canadian bitcoin mining company Bitfarms has signed an agreement to purchase 3 acres of land in Washington state and 181 acres in Pennsylvania for $1.90 million and $3.50 million respectively for potential high-performance computing (HPC) development.
At the same time, the company has decided to close its bitcoin mining farm in Argentina due to power supply disruptions since May 12 due to a workout by energy provider Generacion Mediterranea S.A. (GMSA). Bitfarms reached an agreement with GMSA to recover $3.50 million of energy deposits in installments over an 18-month period beginning January 2026, and to cancel the $2.80 million asset decommissioning obligation related to leased land in the country.
