White House: Nvidia AMD to pay 15% of its revenue in China, or expand to more companies

On August 13, according to the US Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC), the White House confirmed on the 12th that two US chipmakers, Nvidia and AMD, have agreed to a special agreement to hand over 15% of their chip sales in China to the US government in exchange for export licenses for related products. The White House said that the agreement may be expanded to more companies in the future. White House spokeswoman Carolyn Levitt said at a press conference that such agreements currently only involve these two companies, "but may be expanded to other companies in the future." She also said that the US Department of Commerce is still studying the relevant legal basis and specific operation methods, and the details will be further explained by the Department of Commerce.
