X Layer completes PP upgrade and starts OKB Gas Token economic model optimization

According to official news, OKX has decided to strategically upgrade X Layer and make it a leading public chain focusing on DeFi, payment and RWA scenarios. X Layer is built on Polygon CDK and has completed the "PP upgrade" on August 5, 2025. The network throughput has been increased to 5000 TPS, the gas cost has been reduced to near zero, and the security and Ethereum mainnet compatibility have been fully enhanced. The upgrade will simultaneously promote the ecological construction, focusing on DeFi, global payment and RWA issuance circulation, and accelerating the application landing through ecological funds, liquidity incentives and infrastructure improvement. OKX Wallet, OKX Exchange and OKX Pay have been fully integrated into the X Layer, providing 0 Gas fast withdrawal and efficient on-chain payment experience.
This upgrade is also accompanied by the optimization of the OKB Gas Token economic model, and OKB will continue to be the only Gas and native token of the X Layer. OKX will destroy 65,256,712.097 OKBs reserved in the historical repurchase and reserve at one time. After completion, upgrade the OKB smart contract, remove the function of additional issuance and manual destruction, and fix the total issuance to 21 million. Users who hold OKB of Ethereum L1 version need to recharge their assets to OKX and complete the chain change by "withdrawing to X Layer". At the same time, OKTChain will go offline in stages, stop trading on OKX from 14:10 (UTC + 8) on August 13, 2025, and regularly exchange OKT for equivalent OKB according to the average closing price from July 13 to August 12, 2025. On-chain OKT exchange is supported until January 1, 2026.
