The more tariff revenue, the harder it is to overturn Trump's trade policies

In an interview with Fox Business on Tuesday, Treasury Secretary David Bescent said that as tariff revenue continues to flow into the US treasury, if lower court tariff cases end up in the Supreme Court, the growing revenue will make it difficult for the Supreme Court to rule against the Trump administration. "The more revenue we have, the more difficult it will be for the Supreme Court to rule against us," Mr. Bescent said. The remarks were in response to a case being heard by the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C., that challenges the legitimacy of Mr. Trump's so-called "reciprocal" tariffs, as well as another set of tariffs imposed on China, Canada and Mexico in February.
