In an interview with Fox Business on Tuesday local time, US Treasury Secretary Vincent Bescent said he was optimistic that the Senate would confirm Stephen Millan, the current chairperson of the Council of Economic Advisers, as a temporary vacancy on the Federal Reserve board of governors before the Fed's September meeting. Mr. Bescent revealed that US President Donald Trump is looking widely to fill the permanent vacancy on the board of governors that will arise in January next year, and is very open. He revealed that the president has even considered nominating former Fed chair Janet Yellen. "This is not about ideology, this is about the economy - what is best for the American people and what is best for the economy," Mr. Bescent stressed.
