SlowMist founder Cosine commented on the 51% attack on Monero, saying that the community has many doubts about whether it is a true 51% attack, but there is no doubt about the reorganization of blocks (such as 6). The Qubic mining pool claims to control 51% of the computing power, but many community members believe that it controls about 33% of the computing power. This debate is not easy to verify, and the real hammer 51% can only be tested with a double-spend attack.
Previously, it was reported that IOTA co-creation Sergey Ivancheglo's project Qubic quickly accumulated a large amount of Monero hashrate through the "useful proof of work (uPoW) " mechanism. On August 12, Qubic briefly controlled 52.72% of the hash rate of the Monero network (about 3.01 GH/s). Once it exceeds 51%, Qubic can reject blocks from other mining pools, resulting in chain reorganization, double spending or transaction review. The Monero community has launched a boycott and defensive action. Qubic has called this a technical demonstration and a non-malicious attack.
Slow Mist Cosine: Qubic's control of Monero's computing power ratio is still questionable and difficult to verify
