Circle's proposed Arc blockchain will use USDC as its native gas
2025-08-12 15:35:05
According to the official blog of Circle, Circle announced the launch of Arc, an open Layer-1 blockchain designed for stablecoin financial scenarios. Arc uses USDC as its native gas, supports low and predictable USD-denominated transaction fees, and has a built-in institutional-grade foreign exchange engine to enable 24/7 automatic settlement between stablecoins. Arc uses Malachite's high-performance consensus mechanism to support sub-second instant endpoints and optional privacy protection. The chain is EVM-compatible and is designed for applications such as cross-border transfer, stablecoin derivatives, on-chain credit and capital markets settlement. It is expected to open a public beta this fall and launch on the mainnet in 2026.
