SlowMist has issued a security alert, and the XMR network is suspected to have suffered a 51% hash rate attack. According to a post on X and its blockchain reorganization chart provided, XMR recently suffered a chain reorganization at a depth of 6 blocks by an unknown mining pool.
At present, no mining pool has more than 50% of the hashrate on miningpoolstats, so this could be a stealthy malicious hashrate attack or an accidental mining race. The SlowMist security team recommends that when using XMR for transactions, wait for as many block confirmations as possible to reduce risk.
