Shortly after the community launched an attack on the controversial airdrop, the Eigen Foundation will airdrop approximately $1,000 in EIGEN to more than 280,000 wallet holders each.
The Eigen Foundation said in a post on X on Thursday that recipients of the first season will receive at least 110 EIGEN, while recipients of the second season will receive 100 EIGEN or more. In the face of public backlash over the EIGEN airdrop program (including a provision prohibiting claimants from cashing in their allotments for a fixed period).
In a blog post published on Thursday, EigenLayer also clarified that investor tokens will begin vesting after token transferability begins. The post states that the token will be unlocked sometime after September 30, 2024, when the new feature will be rolled out on Eigenlayer's mainnet.
The Eigen Foundation will issue an additional $1,000 in EIGEN to token holders.
