ANZ: Reserve Bank of New Zealand may continue to cut interest rates
2025-08-12 03:05:09
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand appears set to cut its official interest rate further next week, with economists mostly focused on the central bank's forecasts for the future. Sharon Zollner, chief economist at ANZ, said a 25 basis point cut in the official rate to 3.00 per cent appeared to be DingTalk on the board. With weak high-frequency data increasingly visible in hard economic data, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand may shift to a more dovish stance, eventually cutting the official rate to 2.5 per cent. But she added that a sudden shift in that direction next week might be premature.
