Musk's Grok chatbot account was briefly banned by the X platform

On Monday afternoon local time, the official X account of Grok, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence chatbot, was temporarily blocked. The account was reinstated after a few minutes. Grok gave a series of conflicting explanations for the reasons for the ban, including insisting in response to screenshots of the ban provided by users that "the picture is fake", saying that "the account has been unblocked and is functioning normally"; replying in English to acknowledge the ban, saying the reason was "anti-Semitic hate speech"; another reply in English said it was "banned for pointing out that Israel and the United States have committed genocide in Gaza". Musk posted a post after the incident: "We really shoot ourselves in the foot!" He then called Grok's confusing explanation a "stupid mistake," and said the chatbot didn't actually know the reason for the ban. (Jin Ten)
