Trump team includes Bowman, Jefferson, and Logan as candidates for Federal Reserve Chair

Two vice chairpeople of the Federal Reserve, Mr. Bowman and Mr. Jefferson, and Mr. Logan, the chairperson of the Dallas Fed, are considering taking the job next year when it becomes vacant, according to two administration officials. Mr. Bescent, the Treasury secretary in charge of the selection, said he would interview more candidates in the coming weeks. Mr. Trump is expected to make a final announcement this fall, officials said. Other candidates still under consideration include Kevin Hassett, Mr. Trump's economic adviser; Mr. Waller, the Fed governor; Mark Summerlin, the economist; and Kevin Walsh and James Bullard, former Fed officials, the people said. Last week, Mr. Trump nominated Stephen Millan, chairperson of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, to a Fed board seat, and officials said the Trump team saw no need to rush to find a new chairperson because Mr. Millan's nomination had gone to the Senate for confirmation. Mr. Bessant will interview all the candidates for the chair and then recommend a short list of candidates to the president for a meeting with him.
