Amrita Ahuja, chief financial officer of Block, told CNBC that bitcoin has the potential to be an open protocol that drives the internet, allowing money to flow efficiently at internet speeds. She said the company has been investing in bitcoin-related businesses for many years, including buying and selling products, self-hosted services and mining programs, and will launch new mining chips in the second half of this year to promote the popularization of the mining ecosystem. Ahuja believes that bitcoin is moving from "digital gold" to an everyday payment currency, and thousands of Square merchants already accept BTC.
