CleanSpark faces $185 million tariff risk over imported bitcoin miners

CleanSpark, a US crypto miner, disclosed that some of its bitcoin mining machines imported between April and June 2024 were identified by US customs as originating in China or faced punitive tariffs of up to $185 million. CleanSpark denied the allegations, saying that its procurement contracts and supplier documents indicate that mining machines are not made in China, and will resolutely respond to the accusations. According to reports, the mining company IREN has also encountered a similar dispute, involving an amount of 100 million US dollars.
