On August 8, the rating agency S & P Global gave Sky (formerly MakerDAO), a DeFi protocol, a credit rating of B- for the first time. The result is B-, which is the same as the sovereign debt rating of the Democratic Republic of Congo and is a high-risk "speculative grade". S & P pointed out that Sky's current risks mainly include high depositor concentration, excessive dependence on founder Rune Christensen, and regulatory uncertainty of DeFi, but also acknowledged that its credit losses have been low and its returns have been stable since 2020. The rating does not cover the governance token SKY, only USDS, DAI and their savings derivatives.
