ABN Amro: Trump's nomination of interim Federal Reserve governor has less impact on the dollar

ING economist Francesco Pesole said in a report that the dollar has weakened only modestly after Trump nominated Stephen Milan to fill a vacancy on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Milan, who has recently criticised the Fed over interest rate cuts and called for an overhaul of the central bank, will fill the position temporarily until his term expires in January next year. This was also offset by reports that Fed governor Waller is a favourite to succeed Fed Chairperson Jerome Powell. He has taken a more dovish stance on interest rate cuts than another potential candidate, Kevin Hassett.
