U.S. stocks closed on Thursday, with the Dow initially closing down 0.51 percent, the S & P 500 index down 0.08 percent, and the Nasdaq up 0.35 percent. Intel (INTC. O) closed down more than 3 percent, AMD (AMD. O) rose 5.69 percent, and Apple (AAPL. O) rose more than 3 percent.
