Due to Ledger hardware wallet software limitations, some Cardano users cannot receive Midnight Foundation's Glacier airdrops. Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson explained that the problem lies in Ledger's implementation of the CIP-8 message signing protocol, which currently only supports 31 bytes of message signing, while Glacier airdrops require 251 bytes.
Cardano developers said they are rolling out a temporary solution that will use metadata from empty transactions to include airdrop data. Fahmi Syed, chairperson of the Midnight Foundation, said affected users will not lose their eligibility for airdrops, and an official solution is expected to be launched by August 25, while alerting users to fake websites and unauthorized solutions.
